Enrichment Classes
Tae Kwon Do
Students will be introduced to this Korean martial art, which is the oldest art of self defense. The method of Tae Kwon Do puts more emphasis on leg techniques than does Karate. The philosophy is intended to build character and improve focus and discipline of the mind and body.
Art
Art Around the World!* Students will listen to music and create artwork from different countries around the world. Projects include bamboo painting from China, pottery from Mexico, woodblock prints from Japan, and metal sculptures from Africa. Class will be messy so dress for the mess. Disposable smocks will be provided or you may bring your own art shirt to class.
*A $16 materials fee will be collected at registration.
Humor In Music
Using music, drama, and humor, we will work together to prepare the featured act for Thursday’s "Fun Night". The specifics of this class cannot be revealed since this production must be kept a secret! Parents are welcome to participate along with their children.
Composition
Come and learn how to stimulate your creative process and develop your musical ideas. Students may bring projects already in progress or may choose from a variety of ideas in class. Creating music is one of the most uplifting experiences a student can have. Come and enjoy your musical creativity!
Chamber/Ensemble Class For Piano and Strings
This class is for students who are at least 12 years old and at an upper intermediate or advanced level. This unique ensemble class may include piano duets, trios, etc. A certain level of maturity is necessary to benefit from this intense experience.
Piano students may focus on their chamber or ensemble pieces during their lesson class instead of a solo piece. Ensembles will perform at week’s end.
Students participating in the chamber/ensemble class must enroll by May 1st to allow ample time for piece selection, grouping, and for students to prepare the selections.
NOTE: All classes will meet four times during the week.
