Patricia Heineman-Vernon has been teaching music to children and adults for over 35 years. She has a B.A. in music education from Mundelein College in Chicago. Presently she serves as director of the Center for Musical Development (Skokie, Il) where she and her faculty teach Kindermusik for children ages 1 ½- 7. She also has established the Skokie Children’s Choir for children who have completed the Kindermusik curriculum as well as interested children from within the community. She began her Kindermusik training in 1992 and was named a Kindermusik Maestro in 2002 and 2003 for her success in sharing the Kindermusik experience with a large number of families. In addition to her work in Skokie, she also teaches Kindermusik at the Music Academy of Northwestern University.
Mrs.Heineman-Vernon began her Suzuki training in 1980 and has served as a Suzuki piano teacher at the Suzuki Music Academy of Chicago, the Wheaton College Suzuki Program, the Jack Benny Center for the Performing Arts in Waukegan, and Mundelein College. She presently maintains a Suzuki studio in her home in Skokie. As a member of the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association, her students consistently receive superior ratings in contests, festivals and AiM exams. Also her students participate annually in the National Piano Guild Auditions and she serves as a judge for these auditions as well. She has served as a Suzuki Piano Instructor at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Suzuki Family Camp for over 20 years. Continually searching for new ideas to enhance her teaching skills, she has done Suzuki training throughout the country for the past 27 years. She has two teenagers, a daughter(19) who is a cellist and a son(14) who is a trombonist.
