Melanie Brsan received a B.M. in Piano Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she studied with Dr. Jim Breckenridge. She has over 30 piano students from the Joliet and surrounding area. She continues her post-graduate education by attending pedagogy conferences and workshops throughout the country. Melanie also accompanies instrumentalists and singers and free-lances at retirement homes, churches, weddings, etc. She enjoys playing a variety of music, most of which is jazz and classical.
Melanie is involved in her local community of Joliet as accompanist/pianist in the Joliet West Vocal Music Department as well as St. Paul the Apostle Church and St. Raymond’s Cathedral. Most recently she began accompanying the Naperville Men’s Glee Club. In 2003, Melanie was one of eight finalists for MTNA’s Studio Fellowship Award for best new teacher in the U.S. Melanie has enjoyed being teen coordinator at the Kankakee Piano Camp since its first year and is looking forward to teaching chamber and lessons!
